Olds of Fayette sister Cindy Holdefer Mike of Tuscaloosa two grandchildren Matthew Shafer Sienna and Rachel Olds and one greatgrandchild Adia Martin. John was a Korean War veteran. He was a faithful member and deacon at Shepherd First Baptist Church. John loved to garden hunt fish and travel. He was an avid Alabama fan for all sports. He loved to play golf. John was very loving to both his family and his church family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Growing up he had many favorite things Little League Baseball collecting baseball cards attending Atlanta Braves Baseball where he got to meet his favorite players Hank Aaron and Chipper Jones. He graduated from Fayette County High School Class of 1980. Then he went on to join the Army and spent basic training in Ft. Leanord MO. From there to Fort Benning GA. He spent time in Hondorus and Hawaii and finished his tour in Ft. Benning GA. He followed his dad in the grocery business where he became a certified butchermeat cutter.
