Funeral services will be held at 1000 AM on Saturday August 2 2025at Auburn United Methodist Church Chapel with burial to follow at Tuskegee Cemetery. A native of Hartford Alabama John graduated from Geneva County High School and attended Auburn University graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He also earned a Masters in Business Administration from Georgia State University. He joined the U.S. Air Force where he served as a pilot for over six years flying the C141 and EC47 aircrafts. A Vietnam War veteran he flew around the world many times and amassed over 1000 combat flying hours that resulted in being awarded the Air Medal five times and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Jody Dean Harper 64 died Friday July 25 2025 at Baptist East in Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his parents Kermit and Genevia Askins Harper of Shelby County Alabama. He is survived by his wife of 17 years Amanda and his sons Brandon Hannah McGinty of Tallassee and their son Kyle and Travis Harper of Birmingham and his son and daughter. Jody worked as a plant supervisor at various locations before moving to Notasulga in 2008 and accepting the plant manager position at Vulcan Materials in Loachapoka. He loved spending time with his wife and grandson Kyle whenever he could. He also enjoyed deep sea fishing dominos and riding motorcycles. His family will announce a memorial service at a later date.
