David Wayne Rice 77 of Crossett Arkansas passed away on Thursday August 13 2026. He was born on December 18 1948 in Lake Village Arkansas to the late Harvey and Annie Marie Parks Rice. David was a man who loved life and the people in it. He had a lifelong passion for turkey hunting and enjoyed baseball and just about any sport especially if there was a little competition involved. Above all he loved a challenge. He retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service in the maintenance department at Georgia Pacific. A faithful servant of the Lord David found great joy in teaching children of all ages at church and sharing his faith with the next generation. Ellen Modeen Creed Herring Burt age 96 of Wilmar entered her eternal home on Saturday Aug. 15th 2026 at Belle View Estates Nursing and Rehab in Monticello. She was born on January 30th 1930 in Wilmar AR to the late Noel Jelly Creed and Gladys Hill Creed. She was the widow of Lloyd Herring whom she married in June of 1948. Together they shared four children and built a life in her beloved hometown of Wilmar. Modeen was a homemaker but in later years she worked at Creeds diner in Wilmar School Apparel in Star City and Burlington in Monticello. After Lloyds passing she married Walter Burt. They were married over 25 years until the passing of Walter in January of 2013. Modeen was a diehard Razorback fan she rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her hogs. Melissa Gay Hauser 57 of Monticello passed away Tuesday August 18 2026 at her home. Born November 11 1968 to Harold Raymond Kellum and Virginia Landers Kellum Melissa was a member of Oak Grove Assembly of God Church. A 1987 graduate of Kingsland High School Melissa continued her education at the University of Arkansas at Monticello where she earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology. She later earned a Masters in Business Administration from Colorado State University. Melissa enjoyed reading watching movies and cooking but some of her favorite times were spent with family sharing stories and plenty of laughter. She was an avid recycler a faithful blood donor to Life Share and was rarely without a Dr. Pepper nearby. She was also skilled in sign language and enjoyed using it to communicate and connect with others. Melissa was especially close to her cousins Michelle Dane Todd and Trenia and treasured…
