Gustavo Gus Moreno Melgoza was born on November 17 1954 in Uruapan Michoacn Mexico. His parents Celia Moreno de Melgoza and Manuel Cerda Melgoza migrated with the family to Central California in August 1961. They settled initially in Arvin before living in DiGiorgio for seven years. In the summer of 1969 the family moved to Lamont eventually relocating to Bakersfield in 1979. During his early adulthood Gus lived briefly in San Luis Obispo Hollywood and Santa Barbara before returning to Bakersfield in the mid1980s. Gus was a highly intelligent individual who showed a sense of creative eccentricity. An avid music lover and true hardrock fan he sported long hair in the early 1970s. He later developed a passion for playing guitar in both rock and Spanish flamenco styles.
