Joseph Stokes Jensen known to most as Joe passed away peacefully on February 12 2026 surrounded by his loving family at Clermont Park Denver CO. He was born on a farm near Morristown New Jersey but by the age of one his missionary parents moved to Swaziland in South Africa where Joe spent his entire childhood learning to speak Zulu and Afrikaans as well as English. He began medical school at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg but his life shifted dramatically when he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1945. After serving Joe chose to remain in the United States and with the help of the G.I.Bill completed his medical degree at the University of Illinois. hilip was born at St Josephs Hospital in Denver Colorado on Thursday June 1 1967. He was the third Carney to be born at the hospital his grandfather was born there in 1904 and his father in 1941. He was the oldest child of Philip and Elaine Carney and spent the first ten months of his life in his parents town house in Commerce City while the Northglenn family home at 11794 Melody Drive was being built. He was 13 months older than his brother Christopher and 3 years older that his brother Brian. In December 1971 when he was 4 years old his sister Tara was born. Philip parents moved to Northglenn as the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish was founded and church activities were an important part of the years of his youth.
