Norma Phyllis Berg Nathanson 101 of Bethel CT passed away peacefully on July 30 2024 in Windham Maine. She was the daughter of the late Henry S. and Ada E. Hollins Berg. Born in Boston MA December 23 1922 she was married at Trinity Episcopal Church Boston MA to the late Charles H. Nathanson Sr. They moved to CT in 1950 where she raised her family built her life and career. Norma graduated from North Quincy High School and went on to work at the Boston Gas Company retiring from Data Control Systems Danbury CT as Executive Assistant to the president. A longtime parishioner of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bethel Norma loved her church community where she found both solace and joy throughout her life. Alan Al Barney passed peacefully in the early morning this Monday July 1 reunited at last with his beloved wife Carol. Al was born on February 18 1939 to Fred and Harriet Barney of Stamford Ct. He and his younger brothers Carl and David grew up in Noroton Heights where they practiced music mischief and mayhem. Al attended Worcester Polytechnic in Massachusetts where he met his future bride Carol Makszin at a mixer at Becker College. The pair married in 1959 and had their first child Peter while Al was serving his active duty in the US Navy on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. They returned to Darien CT where they had two more children Kathleen and Lisa while Al worked at American Cyanimid and attended night school on scholarship at Bridgeport Engineering Institute. She is survived by her five children and four grandchildren. She was born in Colombia May 27 1929 daughter of the late Isaac and Maria Huertas.Rosa graduated from teachers college in Bogot Escuela Normal Superior de Colombia with a specialization in Physical Education and she worked as a teacher in Colombia for 35 years.She moved to the United States in 1985 worked for Danbury Hospital for 10 years and then for several years at the Hispanic Center of Greater Danbury.She worked tirelessly for and was very passionate in supporting her community well into her late eighties.
