Jaak Strandson, 73, of Danielson, CT, passed away on September 18, 2026, after a four-year battle with cancer.Born in Yonkers, NY to Estonian family of Nikolai and Siina Strandson. Jaak graduated Killingly High School in 1971 and served four years in the United States Coast Guard. He also earned two degrees from Quinebaug Valley Community College, during which time he worked with the college assisting fellow veterans in obtaining benefits and accessing higher education. Throughout his life, he worked in manufacturing and enjoyed reading, running, classic movies, and jazz.He is survived by his brother Johan Strandson and his wife Catherine; his sister Ann Marois and her partner Rick Ducharme; his brother Dennis Strandson and his wife Colleen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.A private graveside burial will take place at Westfield Cemetery.

A calling hour will be held in Tillinghast Funeral Home 433 Main St. Danielson, CT on Friday October 16, 2026 from 9:30-10:30 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Church in Danielson at 11 AM. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery in Danielson.
