Mrs. Shelvie Jean May Velie 88 of Blackshear passed away early Sunday morning October 11 2026 at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House. Born in Poulan GA on January 3 1938 she lived in Ware County prior to moving to Pierce County fifty years ago. Mrs. Velie was a retired Nurse having worked for Memorial Hospital Satilla Memorial Health. She loved being with her family especially all of her grandchildren had a profound sense of humor and was a very sociable person. Mrs. Velie had been a devoted pastors wife for many years and always had the right words to offer people whether it was for comfort encouragement or just to brighten their day.
