Penny M. (Hird) Foley Cady, 84, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Friendship Manor, surrounded by love. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rock Island and will be live streamed on St. Mary’s Church Facebook page. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alleman High School or The St. Joseph’s Evening Meal Program, two causes that reflected Penny’s deep faith and generous heart. Penny was born on April 28, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of George and Rosemary (Quinlan) Hird. She married the love of her life, James Patrick Foley, in November of 1963 in Rock Island.
