Frederick Alphonso McClain Sr. departed this life on February 13 2026 at Memorial Hospital. He was born June 17 1958 in Mound Bayou Mississippi the son of Jail McClain and Lewis McClain. Fred was countryraised and he carried that country roads spirit everywhere he went. As a young man he was an avid football and baseball playercompetitive determined and built with the kind of grit you cant teach. For many years Fred dedicated his working life to the Springfield Housing Authority showing up doing the job and handling business the way he believed it should be handledsolid consistent and dependable. Bill was born October 9 1942 in Pawnee the son of Chester and Irma Moose Muncy. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Marilyn Franklin. He retired from the US Postal Service after 30 years as a rural mail carrier. Bill loved all sports the Green Bay Packers St. Louis Cardinals and the Fighting Illini. He loved to travel especially to Colorado the Carolinas and Tennessee. His greatest joy was being a grandfather and watching his grandchildren participate in sports and dance. He was a member of Cherry Hills Church. Surviving are his loving wife Janet devoted daughter Gina Scott Mink precious grandchildren Grant Michael and Logan Elizabeth one sister Carol Blazis several nieces nephews and cousins.
