was born August 23 1941 to Harry and Clara Harris in Memphis. Tennessee. The family relocated in 1950 Michigan and shortly thereafter they moved to Gary Indiana where Ellis spent most of his youth and young adult years. Ellis graduated in 1960 from Toleston High School in Gary. During his high school years he ran track and participated in ROTC. After high school he attended Tennessee State University. In 1962 he enlisted in the United Stares Army and received his honorable discharge in 1965. Mr. Harris was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was baptized at an early age and grew up knowing God. His favorite passage was Psalm 23. For 42 years Ellis was employed by Bethlehem SteelArcelorMittal.
