He was born on November 5 1963 to Emile E. Riley Jr. M.D. and Jacqueline Cerf Riley in Heidelberg Germany. Steven grew up in New Orleans alongside his four siblings building the deep roots in family and community that would define his life. He was a man whose generous spirit and quiet strength touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. He attended St. Francis Cabrini Elementary School Holy Cross Middle School and Brother Martin High School where he truly came into his own. He carried those same qualities and attributes and care with him to Howard University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in History.
