He was raised in Loranger and spent over 50 years building a life and raising his family in Amite a place he proudly called home. A true outdoorsman at heart Steve found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life early mornings in the woods days spent fishing and time shared with friends who became like family. Roger Allen Pittman age 78 passed away on Sunday March 22 2026. He was born on September 20 1947 in Magnolia Mississippi and was a resident of Kentwood Louisiana. Mr. Pittman was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served his country from 1967 to 1970 during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Korea for 18 months. He held the rank of Specialist E5 and received multiple medals for his service. Following his military career he dedicated over 40 years of service to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development before retiring. He also worked for McKneely Funeral Home Kentwood for many years. He attended Psalms 23 Ministries Church of Hope with his family and enjoyed spending time outdoors especially working outside and bird watching.
