Dan was born on June 9th 1953 to Muriel Albert McKenney in Bangor Maine. His childhood years were mostly spent in the Portland area where he made many memories with his siblings and closest friends. In 1971 Dan met the love of his life and best friend Janet Ayer and they wed in October 1973 and remained together for 55 years until the very end. A 1972 graduate of Deering High School Dan went on to earn his degree in Psychology from the University of Southern Maine and then his Masters Degree in Political Science through the University of Maryland. Dan and Janet raised two children Jeff Nikki that they were incredibly proud of. In 1980 Dan joined the United States Air Force and quickly deployed with his family to Germany.
