Crowell H. Garland Jr. 88 passed away peacefully on August 3 2026 at his home in Fairfield Maine with two of his children Amanda and Crowell and his granddaughter Michelle by his side. He was born on June 21 1938 in North Fairfield Fairfield Center Maine the son of Crowell H. Garland Sr. and Ruth Greeley. Crowell was predeceased by his parents Crowell Sr. and Ruth Garland his first wife Joanne Willey wife Norma Emery Garland wife Ethel Hanscom Garland. Four siblings Edwin Garland Evelyn Garland Briggs Margret Garland LeBlanc Margarite Garland and a beloved grandson Hal David Stratton. Crowell is survived by his brother Donald Garland and wife Jeanne of Fairfield his three children Amanda Stratton and husband David Jake Goudreau of Albion Dale Hess of Howland and Crowell Garland III and spouse Carl Jones of Seal Cove. SMITHFIELD ME Teal Towle 65 of Smithfield passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday August 11 2026 while generously lending a helping hand to his neighbors. He was born in Skowhegan on April 20 1961 the son of Donald and Angela Towle. A lifetime resident of Smithfield and a beloved son Teal graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 1979. He began his career as an independent logging contractor before spending the remainder of his working years as an operator at Sappi Paper in Somerset. In the early days of Maines commercial rafting industry he also served as a Registered Maine Whitewater Guide. From a young age Teal worked alongside his father as a talented dog trainer competing and excelling in highlevel field trials throughout his teenage years.
