He was born George Edward King March 23 1936 in Bluffton GA to the late Eddie B King and the late Ruby Toney Javierto. At 7 years old he and his siblings Walterdeceased and Betty went to Live with his maternal grandmother Gensie Moseley. By age 12 he and his siblings were back living with their mother in Atlanta GA. From a young age George learned the value of working to help take care of his family. He even quit school when studying and working became too much to handle. He worked jobs ranging from delivering groceries and ice to working as a delivery driver for a paper company. The owner of the company trusted George so much that he would often give George his car keys and tell him to go to his house pick up his daughter and take her to school.
