Vello Suigussaar of Holland, Michigan, lived a remarkable life defined by resilience, deep family devotion, and quiet strength. He passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, at the age of 92.Vello was preceded in death by his parents, Vladimir and Maria (Ronk) Suigussaar, and a sister who died at birth. He is survived by Mary (Eller), his beloved wife of 68 years; his son Arnold Suigussaar (Diane); his daughters Kristi Suigussaar-Thompson (Ted) and Lili Young (Rob); as well as 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.Born in the rural village of Karula, Valga County, Estonia, Vello’s early world was rooted in community and education. His father served as the local schoolmaster, and the family lived within the stone schoolhouse—a building that still stands today.That peaceful rhythm was forever altered in the summer of 1940, when Soviet forces occupied the Baltic countries, beginning a campaign to dismantle local culture and governance. Dale met the love of his life Sharon deceased in July of 1967 and knew she was the one. Six weeks later they were married on August 21 of that year. Together they raised their daughter Shelley and son Michael deceased in a loving home. Dale was a devoted husband father grandfather and greatgrandfather known for his mischievous smile sweet tooth and love for the outdoors especially fishing and gardening. Helen was the youngest of nine children born to Conrad and Anna Buist Haveman. She grew up in Allegan County and graduated from Martin High School. Between 1955 and 1962 Helen was employed as a telephone switchboard operator. Her brother Larry introduced her to Ray and they married in 1959. While raising four children the family repeatedly relocated between West Michigan and South Holland IL plus Towanda PA. Helen was an avid reader and a former member and president 197778 of the Hudsonville Friends of the Library. In 1979 she resumed working parttime at The Old School House restaurant in Borculo followed by Russ in South HollandLansing IL. After relocating back to Holland Helen was hired in 1995 by Creative Dining Services where she hosted and served at Hopes Cook Dining Hall plus did catering. During the Depression the family moved to the Grand RapidsHolland area where they remainedroots that Roy carried with quiet steadiness throughout his long life. From an early age Roy showed what it meant to be devoted and hardworking. He left school young to help support his family a decision that reflected both his sense of responsibility and the honest practical care he offered to those he loved.
