Rod was born in Bemidji and grew up in Lavinia until his family moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin during his middle school years. He attended Juneau High School where he excelled as a talented track and field athlete graduating in 1955. Rod then went on to the University of North Dakota where he played football and met his first love Judith Johnson. They married in 1959. After graduating from UND they returned to the Milwaukee area where Rod attended Marquette University earning a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1963. While studying dentistry he also made time to set school track records in the 400yard dash both as an individual and as the anchor of the relay team. Rod established a dental practice in Minot ND living there for many years with Judy while raising their three daughters Laurie Holly and Jennifer. Stephen Christlieb

Stephen Joseph Christlieb 81 of Bemidji MN died Sunday October 4 2026 at his home. He was born on July 1 1945 in Fargo ND to Clarence and Elizabeth Christlieb and spent his early years there. He attended St. Anthony Elementary School and Shanley High School until his family moved to Osage MN. He completed high school at Park Rapids High School graduating with the class of 1963. The next year he enrolled in the auto mechanics program at Wadena Technical School. He completed one year but was unable to return for the second year because of lack of funds which would result in being drafted. He chose to drive to Fargo and enlist in the U.S. Army. He returned home in the fall of 1968 and found a job at the Highway Host Truck Stop in Bemidji. He met his future wife in November 1968 and they were engaged…

Carol Olson

Carol was born on January 25 1951 in Grand Forks ND to Jay and Florence Johnson. She grew up on the point in East Grand Forks MN with her siblings Kent and Debra Debbie and graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School in 1969. After high school Carol attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks ND. During her time there she studied abroad at the University of Oslo Norway an experience that became the highlight of her college years. While traveling in Europe she met Robert Dow in Edinburgh Scotland. They married and welcomed their daughter Ashley. Carol later reunited with her high school sweetheart Richard Olson and they married in 1982. Together they welcomed their son Jesse and their daughter Kimberly. Carol and Richard built their life together in Grand Forks ND where Carol worked as a medical secretary for Anesthesia Associates Ltd. which later merged…
