Scott Dale Swanson age 62 of Nicollet MN passed away on Monday May 11 2026 at Mayo Clinic Rochester St. Marys campus surrounded by his family. He spent his last years fighting esophageal and bone cancer. Scott was born on September 29 1963 to Dale and Corinne Swanson in Faribault MN. After graduating from Hayfield High School he attended Albert Lea Area Vocational Technical Institute where he received an Associates degree in electrical contracting. Shortly afterwards he received his license for Master Electrician. He then moved to Dallas Texas where he met his future wife. Scott married Molly Sumlin on May 17 1987 and they shared almost 39 years together as well as three daughters. Scott and Molly moved back to Minnesota shortly after their oldest daughter was born. The youngest one of the family she spent her early years with Mom running the household and making sure there was lots of books to read homemade cookies to eat and love to share. She later graduated from Mankato West High School in 1980 Mankato State University with a degree in Foods and Nutrition and discovered her passion for the outdoors camping fishing sunsets and always sharing a smile. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and later spent many years working as a shipping clerk at Spartech Plastics. He retired from the Mankato Independent School District in 1990.After he retired he opened a locksmithing business keeping very busy in spite of being retired.He and Juanita enjoyed traveling throughout Minnesota and other states visiting their children and grandchildren.He was very involved with his church and his Christian faith was always his top priority.If you happened to be walking or driving on Blue Earth Street in Mankato there was a good chance you would have seen both of them sitting in their porch waving to everyone.
