Barbara Jean Ballard, 63, of Mokane, passed away peacefully at her home on July 1, 2026.Barbara was born on October 10, 1962, in Fulton, Missouri, to the late Everett William Stiers and Gladys (Newsom) Stiers.Barbara found joy in life's simple pleasures. She especially looked forward to shopping trips with, Sharon, spending quiet moments reading her Bible, and enjoying trips to the movies. She loved the farm, where she could often be found walking on the property, checking on her chickens and guineas, and caring for all of the animals. Of all her beloved companions, her dog, Princess, held a very special place in her heart.Those that remain to cherish Barb’s memory are her son, John H. Harris Jr.; daughter, Jackie J. Ward.Helen was a very intelligent woman with a lifelong love of reading and learning. She possessed a compassionate spirit and a generous heart, always willing to help those in need. Her home was a place of comfort and acceptance, where many children found the extra love, guidance, and support they needed. To countless young people, she became a cherished mother figure and were proud to be “adopted” by her.Deeply passionate about matters of social justice, Helen devoted much of her life to advocating for others.
