Doreen A. Steffen age 78 of Nebraska City NE formerly Syracuse NE passed away on Thursday May 14 2026 at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha NE. Doreen Adele Steffen was born on March 22 1948 in Superior WI the daughter of Howard M. and Violet A. Lauri Diamon. She graduated from high school in 1965 and then attended Wayne State College in Wayne NE. That is where she met her future husband Marvin Anthony Steffen. They were united in marriage on January 25 1969 in Wayne NE and to this union two children were born Ryan and Lauri. He preceded her in death on April 25 2020. Doreen enjoyed art and was a talented artist. Most of all she loved her family especially her children and grandchildren. Joseph L. Furnas age 74 of Nebraska City NE passed away on Friday May 15 2026 at the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn NE. Joseph Lowell Furnas was born August 27 1951 his sunrise to Lowell and Phyllis Snyder Furnas in Auburn NE. He was the youngest of three children. He grew up in Brownville NE enjoying his many friends in the hills of Brownville. Joe attended grade school there and graduated from Auburn High School with the Class of 1969. He was united in marriage to Beverly Straw and to this union a daughter Runeta was born. They later divorced. Then he had Joseph Lowell Jr. and Lydia and helped raise stepchildren Tolly Jeannette and Alan. Joe was a very had worker and great provider for his family.
