Known affectionately as Dot or Dottie she cherished her Southern heritage throughout her life extending warm hospitality to everyone she met. Dorothy was a devoted military wife supporting her loving husband Paul during his active duty with the United States Air Force including tours in Vietnam. She carried that pride with quiet strength and grace while singlehandedly raising their family during his deployments. Known for her incredible work ethic Dorothy often held multiple jobs while always prioritizing her family and remaining deeply involved in their lives. Carol Edwards Herbster 86 passed away peacefully on January 22 2026 in Exeter NH surrounded by her loving family and compassionate RiverWoods caregiving team. She was a devoted wife mother grandmother and friend and she was deeply proud of her family. Born in Philadelphia PA Carol was the youngest daughter of Helen Kennedy Edwards and James Edwards. The sudden loss of her father at age seven shaped her resilience early in life. She met her future husband Richard in 10th grade and they married in June 1961 after she graduated from Drexel University with a degree in Home Economics. In 1962 they began a twoyear deployment in France where Dick was stationed in the US Army and Carol taught English. After returning to Pennsylvania they raised their three daughters in Wallingford and later Chadds Ford where Carol began her enduring affection for beagles.
