Barbara Jane Darkes Curran passed away peacefully in respite care at Saint Johns on the Lake Milwaukee Thursday August 6 2026 after complications in her recovery from cancer treatment. Her son and daughterinlaw John Curran Jr. and Carolyn Curran were with her. Born August 27 1933 in Philadelphia she lived most of her adult life in Wilmington DE and of her retired life in Milwaukee but she was of and from Orwigsburg PA. Her smalltown warmth and selfdeprecating charm touched almost everyone who knew her. Her grandchildren Ella Darkes Curran and John Calvin Edward Curran shall sorely miss her but the family takes comfort in knowing that she rejoins her beloved hubs John Edward Curran in heaven. Wendell "Joe" Sweet Jr. 69 of Black River New York passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday July 28 2026 at his home with his loving fiance Amber Smith by his side. Born on April 11 1957 Joe was the firstborn son of Wendell G. Sweet Sr. and Margaret O. Watson Sweet. He attended Watertown schools and experienced the loss of his father in 1975 while still a teenager. Despite this profound loss Joe developed the resilience determination and strong work ethic that would define his life. Upon turning 18 he briefly enlisted in the United States Navy before leaving with a medical discharge. Joe was a multitalented man who could master nearly any trade.
