A life welllived deserves to be celebrated. James Monroe Wike 95 of Taylorsville was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday May 12 2026 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center after a period of declining health. A devoted husband father and grandfather James loved spending time with his family and making them laugh. He enjoyed morning walks gardening and mowing his lawn when his health allowed. He had a large sweet tooth and you could often find him enjoying a bowl of ice cream in the evenings. James proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Korea for a little over a year. Before and after the war James was employed with Trio Foods for a total of 53 years before retiring. He spent 7 years as a cashier 20 years working the wholesale route and 26 years…

Patricia Johnson Hoke age 65 of Claremont went home to be with the Lord on Thursday May 14 2026 surrounded by her loved ones Patricia was born December 21 1960 in Alexander County the daughter of the late William Eugene Johnson and Eva Arcola Goble Johnson. Patricia dedicated 25 years of service as a finance manager for NewtonConver City Schools and community schools. A woman of strong faith she was a member of the Christian Methodist faith and faithfully served as the church secretary at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Claremont. Patricia found joy in reading crafting and caring for animals but her greatest happiness came from being Mawmaw. She was also an avid NASCAR and hardcore Duke Blue Devils fan. Patricia was a devoted wife loving mother proud grandmother and loyal friend whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of many. Including her parents she was preceded in death…
