She was born on October 23rd to the late Cullen Deal and Ora May Deal in Catawba County. She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Conover. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Lee Raby and two brothers Harold Deal and Carl Deal. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Donna Younce husband Chris of Taylorsville a grandson Brian Younce of Newton a sister Josie Harris of Taylorsville and numerous cousins nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Friday October 16th 2026 at 1100am in Hickory Funeral Homes chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1000am 1045am at the funeral home. Reverend Karin ODonnell will be officiating the service. A private burial service will be held on Monday at Catawba Memorial Park.

Jacqueline Brank Lipe

Jacqueline Brank Lipe, 81, of Claremont passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Carolina Caring in Newton.Born February 15, 1945 in England, she was the daughter of the late Sam Brank and Margery Hodgson Coleman. In addition to her parents, Jacqueline was preceded in death by two daughters, Jane Bumgarner and Kathy Travis; and her brother, Bill Brank.Survivors include her husband, Martin Lipe; two sons, Wayne Bumgarner (Patty) and David Bumgarner (Kris); and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.A celebration of Jacqueline’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Newton with Pastor Scott Whitesides officiating.The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the services at the church.Bass-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
