Sally Gallant Marks age 94 of Whiteville passed away peacefully at Liberty Commons Health and Rehab on Wednesday July 1 2026. Sally was born on February 16 1932 to the late Wade Miller Gallant and Sally Wesley Jones Gallant in Wake County. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Rufus Marks Jr son Joseph Rufus Marks III and brother Wade Miller Gallant Jr. Sally was a faithful member of Lake Waccamaw Presbyterian Church. She was a UNCChapel Hill graduate and worked for 40 plus years as a Supervisor with the Department of Social Services. It was there that she was an advocate for children and youth. She never took any vacation days or sick days while she was employed. Two of her greatest pastimes was walking and playing golf. Annette B. Powell 72 of Whiteville N.C. passed on July 1 2026. She was born on July 111953 in Columbus County the daughter of the late Robert Blackburn and Geraldine Garrell. She was a Registered Nurse having received a degree from Sand Hills Community College in Pinehurst N.C. She owned and operated Rx skincare in Whiteville. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church having served as Sunday school teacher and choir director she was an artist and enjoyed painting as well as gardening. She is survived by her loving husband Patrick Oliver Powell daughter M. Brooke Campbell of Wilmington N.C. sons Eric Sean Powell of Clayton N.C. Patrick O Powell Jr. and wife Jackie of England Clinton Bradley Campbell and wife Dana of Fairfax V.A. brother John Robert Blackburn Jr. and wife Brandy of Wilmington N.C. sister Robin B.
