Walter Douglas Doug Ball of Fayetteville NC passed away on Tuesday February 11 2026 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Over the past seven years his health suffered due to cancer. He was 69 years old. Doug was born on February 19 1956 in Columbus Ohio. He was the 4th of 6 children born to Walter Edward Ball and Evelyn M. Smith. He graduated high school before joining the Army in 1974. He met Jodi A. Knight in December of 1977 at Fort Belvoir VA. They were married in Rapid City SD on April 19 1978. Doug was in the Army for over 21 years and served as a Terrain Analyst and Army Engineer. He was stationed in Germany Korea and at Fort Bragg NC.
