Gastonia, North Carolina"Johnnie" Mary Bridges Henry, 96, of Gastonia passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Stanley Total Living Center. She was born March 3, 1930 in Gaston County, NC, a daughter of the late Robert Alexander Bridges and Ruth Rhyne Bridges. Johnnie graduated from the Gaston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and was employed by City Hospital/Gaston Memorial, as well as the relocated Gaston Memorial Hospital currently known as Caromont Regional Medical Center for over 40 years before her retirement. Her roles at the hospital included emergency room registered nurse, physician practice nurse, hospital nursing supervisor, coronary care unit nurse, and she was in quality management. She volunteered for the Salvation Army and the Robin Johnson House. Johnnie was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel.
