Mrs. Shelby Funderburk Johnson, 86, of Greensboro, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Born on March 27, 1940, in Forsyth County, she was the daughter of the late Ray Funderburk and Sarah Jeanette Horn Funderburk. She graduated from Griffith High School in Winston-Salem in 1958 and retired from Ciba-Geigy/Syngenta in Greensboro after more than 40 years of service. Shelby was a member of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church. She treasured the time and activities she shared with her sorority sisters in Beta Sigma Phi of Greensboro, and she was an avid reader who enjoyed her book club. Shelby was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, J.C. “Jake” Johnson, Jr., whom she married on October 17, 1969; her brothers, James Earl Funderburk and Ray Franklin Funderburk; and her stepson, Jeff Johnson.
