Lonnie Newton, age 76, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026. Born at Rideout Hospital in Marysville, California, Lonnie was known for her quick wit, kindness, and wonderful sense of humor.Lonnie retired from FirstCarolinaCare after nearly 20 years of dedicated service, where she most recently served as a Senior Operations Analyst. She enjoyed country music, spending time with family and friends, and caring for her beloved animals.She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Stark of Gridley, California, and Hanna Basham of Sanford, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Kenney, Austin, Camryn, Mason, Abigail, Gabriel, Anna, and Ethan; and four great-grandchildren, Makenna, Silas, Anayelie, and Faith.She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Newton.A memorial service will be held on May 26, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Miller-Boles Funeral Home in Sanford, North Carolina.
