Nancy Jean Tackett, 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2026 at Croasdaile Village Pavilion. She was born in Bahama, North Carolina to the late John Edward Tackett and Clyde Umstead Tackett. In addition to her parents, Ms. Tackett is also predeceased by her siblings Marion Ellis, Edith McBroom, Virginia Jones, John Edwin “Ned” Tackett, Reginald Tackett, Patrick Tackett, and William Tackett.She graduated from Cross Business College and immediately began employment with the City of Durham. After 37 years of service to the city, she retired to spend time on her numerous hobbies and taking care of her mother. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Bahama and an active supporter of the Bahama Volunteer Fire Department. In her later years, she served on the Board of Directors for the fire department.Her love for her church and community was evident in her participation in…

He was born in Bryson City on November 24, 1926 to the late Lonnie and Mary Wiggins Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his spouse, Hazel Irene Johnson; brothers, Reeves Johnson and Clayton Johnson; sister, Ethel Sutton.Ray served his country in the US Army. He was a retired dairy famer worker and landscaper. Ray always like to play jokes on his children and grandchildren. She was born on October 14, 1946 in Person County, to the late Ralph Douglas Holt and Celestia Day Holt, but resided in Durham County the majority of her life. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry Brooks Holt and brother, Ralph W. Holt, Jr.Carolyn was a waitress at Bullock's BBQ for nearly 40 years.
