Sean was born in Albany NY, and grew up in and around Albany, twin brother to VernonDowdall and son of Judy and Vernon Sr. A lifelong musician, Sean began playing the five stringbanjo at a very early age, and remained a dedicated musician throughout his life. Sean went tohigh school at Doane Stuart in Albany, and received his undergraduate degree at Hobart andWilliam Smith College in Geneva NY.In 1996, Sean moved with family and several friends to Carrboro NC, where he became activein the local music scene. In addition to the banjo, Sean was an outstanding bass player, andan integral member of several local bands over the years, notably Puritan Rodeo, Zoltar’sFortune, and Jimmie Swagger and the Fussy Eaters.
