MILDRED JEAN LOWERY OAKLEY age 88 of Roxboro NC passed away Wednesday evening May 13 2026 at the Hock Family Pavilion. Mrs. Oakley was born July 20 1937 in Person County NC daughter of the late Clement Hayes Lowery Sr. Edith Tuck Lowery and was wife of 68 years to the late William Russell Bill Oakley. She was retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of High View Baptist Church. Jean enjoyed flowers cooking cleaning her house playing the piano and being with her family especially her grandchildren. Surviving are two sons Larry R. Oakley wife June Scotty Oakley wife Vicky four grandchildren Justin Kyle Oakley Kaylan Paige Oakley fiance Hayden Rigney Lauren Oakley Overby husband Matt Austin Scott Oakley wife Caroline three greatgrandchildren Lillian Nicole Overby Merritt Claire Overby and Saylor Paige Rigney. Katherine "Kathy" Hardy

, North Carolina

Kathy Hardy age 72 passed away unexpectedly on May 9 2026. She was preceded in death by her father Thomas L. Hardy and partner John Gurley. Kathy grew up in Durham NC. She graduated from UNCG with a BS in Nursing. Her entire nursing career was spent at Duke University mostly working in orthopedic clinics. Kathy was a true caregiver not only in her career but with family friends and neighbors as well. She was a straight shooter factual sometimes to a fault but was a true softie at heart. Kathy loved nature and animals. Over the years in Durham and Semora she and John rescued animals as large as horses and as small as field mice. All had a home on the funny farm. Once she left the farm due to the physical demands she continued to garden and tend to the birds and squirrels in nature around her.…
