Robert Alan Bob Peterson 64 of Reidsville went to be with the Lord Monday August 17 2026 at his home. A native of the Bronx New York he was a son of the late George Thomas and Catherine Monsky Peterson and had lived in Rockingham County since 2001. A retired welder with Industrial Air LLC in Greensboro NC he was part of the team at Tallix Foundry in Beacon NY that created DaVincis Horse and the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington DC. Bob was at his happiest building and repairing cars motorcycles and anything with a motor. He could fix anything and enjoyed working with his hands creating art with metal. He enjoyed his pet cats and dogs watching movies and cooking out on the grill. Above all Bob loved his family. A funeral service will be held at 1200pm at New Heights Baptist Church on Saturday August 8 2026 with Dr. Terry Lawson Rev. Ronnie Warner and Bro. Mike Chrismon officiating. The burial will be in Reidlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1030am to 1130am prior to the service. Philip was born on November 15 1939 and adopted by the late Joseph Clyde Young and Billie Barlow Young who raised him as their own. He lived in Reidsville all of his life and graduated in 1958 from Reidsville High School where he played baseball and was part of the 1955 NC state championship team. He played softball on many local teams including Brookside Kens Carpet M H Body Shop A H Furniture and King Lee Exxon.
