Shirley Ann Godfrey Haynes age 85 of Shelby passed away peacefully on Thursday April 2 2026. Shirley was born on February 8 1941 in Rutherford County and lived a life rooted in love family church kindness towards others and her faith in God. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Gaither and Katie Smith Godfrey and her beloved son Charles Anthony Haynes lovingly known as Chuck. She was a graduate of Cool Springs High School in the Class of 1959 and Kings Business College in Shelby. Shirley was also an active member of Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 66 years Ralph Haynes who stood by her side through lifes many seasons. Gene Durwood Ratliff took Gods hand on Wednesday April 1 2026 in Spartanburg South Carolina. Gene was born in South Boston Virginia he was a son of the late Charles Stewart Ratliff Sr. and Kate Kinsler Ratliff. Genes life was a testament to the importance of family faith and perseverance. He lived with purpose and grace and he leaves behind a legacy of love that will be remembered for years to come. Though his passing brings sorrow his family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and resting in the presence of the Lord he served throughout his life. He loved traveling while working at Sulzer Ruti. He visited numerous countries including Switzerland Germany and Mexico as well as numerous states.
