Joan Naidu of Eugene, Oregon, passed away on September 28, 2026, at the age of 96.Born on January 12, 1930, in Banstead, Surrey County, England, Joan was the daughter of Fred and Edith (Perry) Napper. She grew up in England with her younger brother John. She lived a remarkable life marked by her kindness, joy for life and devotion to family and friends whom she took great satisfaction in caring for.Joan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and built distinguished careers as an aerodynamics engineer and then a computer programmer and systems analyst. Her professional accomplishments reflected her sharp intellect, curiosity, and pioneering spirit during a time when there were not many women in technical fields.While working at an aircraft manufacturer in England, Joan met her best friend and future husband, Nilal Naidu.
