Robert Lewis Babser Shubeck 89 of Nesquehoning entered into eternal rest Tuesday May 12 2026 in St. Lukes Hospital Miners Campus surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church Nesquehoning and was currently a member of St. Joseph Parish of Panther Valley. Babser was a standout athlete for Coaldale High School in the early 1950s. Before graduating in 1954 he was a tackle and honorable mention AllState football player but also excelled in basketball and track. He was a state champion in the shot put and was a District XI champion for two years in the discus as well as the shot put.
