Janeen (Dilworth) Rawson, 82, died at home in Harrisville, August 16, 2026, after a long struggle with complications from a stroke. She was the wife of Joel Rawson.Born in Long Beach, CA, she was the daughter of Perry and Jean (Dir) Dilworth. She grew up in Fishkill, N.Y., and graduated from Wappingers Central High School, where she played in the orchestra and the marching band. In 1966, she graduated from the University of Vermont, with a degree in education and taught at the Danville, VT high school.While living in Alabama where her husband was stationed in the Army, she taught sixth grade in the Newton Elementary School. It was the first year, 1969, that school system was integrated. The officials sold the best facilities to private academies and the schools’ faculty followed them. Janeen had to overcome several challenges to teach her public school children.Her career began in teaching, but…
