Jenell Cynthia Gadson Tisdale was born on December 30 1932 in Columbia South Carolina to James and Birdell Gadson. She passed from this world on May 4 2026 at Piedmont Northside Hospital in Columbus Georgia at the age of 93. Jenell was educated in the public schools of Richland County South Carolina and was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School Class of 1951. She was also a graduate of the South Carolina School of Cosmetology. She was one of the first Black Business Owners of the Waverly Community in Columbia and was the owner of Jenells Beauty Salon. She often worked past midnight and into the wee hours of the morning on weekends and holidays. She closed her business in 1981 and became an Examiner for the S.C. State Board of Cosmetology after completing a short course at the University of South Carolina. Jenell also retired from…
