Josephine Perry was the third of 13 children born to the late William and Coren Reaves of Saulsbury Tennessee. She made her arrival on earth on September 13 1944 and was loved and cherished by all who knew her. Josephine received her formal education in the Hardeman County School System. She gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Mt. Salem Missionary Baptist Church. In August 1960 she married her high school sweetheart Floyd D. Perry. To this union five children were born. Shortly after they married they moved to New York City to work and while there they lived with Joes Grandmother Idell Mitchell until 1966 when they moved to Gary Indiana to pursue their careers. Sylvester "Dobie" Johnson was born on November 15 1946 in Grand Junction Tennessee to the late Roberta and Robert Johnson. He was raised in Chicago Illinois. A true entrepreneur at heart Sylvester became the first African American man to open a clothing store in Grand Junction. His store was more than a businessit was a community gathering place filled with conversation connection and friendship. He also enjoyed traveling from state to state selling clothing where his warm personality and easy conversation allowed him to build lasting relationships wherever he went. Virginia received her education through the Montgomery High School system before answering a lifelong calling to care for others.
