Dale Franklin Mayfield, Sr. was born in Covington, TN on November 10, 1939. He passed away peacefully on Oct 8, 2026, while in hospice care at Methodist North Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Gail Sorrell Mayfield, sister Joan, brothers Jerry, JB, Wayne, Bobby, and his parents, Ruby and John Bascom “Bass” Mayfield. He is survived by his sister June Austill (Billy), children Frank (Carey) and Dawn (Freddy), grandsons Parker and Jack (Olivia), numerous nieces, nephews, as well as brothers and sisters-in-law.Dale grew up in Covington and was raised on his family farm with his mother, siblings and uncle. He graduated from Byars-Hall High School in Covington and pursued a career as an electrician, entering the apprenticeship program through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union, local 474. He attained his journeyman electrician status with IBEW and worked on large job sites…
