He was a lifelong resident of Erwin and son of the late Dennis Eugene Sparks and Edith Jean McIntyre Sparks. Dennis was a former employee at Nuclear Fuel Services. He enjoyed fishing hunting listening to Shania Twain and drinking Pepsis. Dennis was an avid Tennessee Vols fan. Conley E. Hester age 84 of Erwin went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on Friday August 14 2026 while he was surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born and raised in Johnson City. Conley is a son of the late John R. and Edith Tucker Hester. He lived in Michigan for several years before moving to Erwin in 2005. Conley retired from General Motors with over thirty years of service. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. Conley loved attending church and he loved his church family. He was a loving and devoted husband father grandfather and brother. Conley treasured spending time with his family. In addition to his parents Conley was preceded in death by one brother Ray Hester and one sister Ruth Hester. Charlotte Georgianna Ashley Johnson age 89 of Erwin went home peacefully to be with the Lord on the evening of Friday August 07 2026 while she was surrounded by her family. Charlotte was born June 12 1937 to the late Earl J. and Marion Marguerite St. John Ashley of Northampton Massachusetts. Charlotte was a loving wife mother grandmother and great grandmother. Above all Charlotte loved the Lord. Her favorite scripture was Christ in you the hope of glory Colossians 127. She was a faithful member of the Erwin Full Gospel Tabernacle. Early in her life she worked at Springfield Armory in Massachusetts. Charlotte was given to much hospitality as referenced in Romans 121214. She poured out her love through exceptional cooking baking filling her home with delicious meals and warm memories while making everyone feel welcome.
