David Archer McCane, 92, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at Eagle’s Trace Senior Living. His memorial service will be held at Katy Funeral Home on October 11, 2026, at 11 a.m.David was born to Lonnie McCane and Rena Belle Chapman on April 17, 1934, in LaGrange, Texas. David grew up on his parent’s ranch in Columbus, Texas and eventually graduated from Texas A&M University in 1956 with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering. After participating in the Corps of Cadets and receiving his commission, he served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force for four years.David met his future wife, Jane Rutherford, on a ski trip and they united in matrimony on April 19, 1958.
