Linda Lou Hughes Prouty was born on November 17 1944 in Marshall Texas the beloved daughter of Albert E. Hughes Jr. and Emma Lou Britton Hughes. She passed away on March 16 2026 leaving behind a legacy of faith intellect service and dedication to her community and family. In 1969 she married The Rev. Malcolm Hersey Prouty with whom she shared a life rooted in ministry compassion and service. Together they touched many lives through their commitment to faith and guidance particularly among young people in the Episcopal Church. She received her early education in the Marshall Public School System before continuing her academic journey at Spring Hill College in Mobile Alabama. She later earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1980 from the University of South Alabama College of Nursing where she distinguished herself as an exceptional scholar. She was born on October 5 1955 in Almagordo New Mexico to parents Robert Smallwood Corpier and Delores Laverne York. She spent her early life in many places as her father was a career Air Force Man. Wherever she found herself she managed to pursue some sort of goal including Air Force ROTC. It was there that she found her love of dogs watching the Airmen taking their trained dogs through their paces. She groomed dogs at Powdermill Kennels while attending high school. She eventually pursued a degree in Criminology at Kilgore College hoping to become a police officer but with little opportunity to expand in the small town of Marshall she gave up that dream. Mazie Fedoll Crayton was born on December 11 1940 to the late Major Fuller and Lessie B. Smith Fuller. She was the fifth of six children and received her education in the Hallsville Public Schools. Mazie united with Christ at an early age and was a faithful and dedicated member of Northside Church of Christ. She was a gifted seamstress who found joy in sewing and creating for others. On August 4 1960 Mazie was united in holy matrimony to Curley Beatsy Crayton. To this union two children were born. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Curley Crayton her parents Major and Lessie B. Fuller one brother James Buddy Fuller and two sisters Dolly Waffer and Nettie Linvel.
