Esequiel "Zeke" Tanguma 78 of La Joya Texas passed away on October 12 2026. Born September 12 1948 in McAllen Texas to Pablo and Paula Guerra he was a lifelong son of the Rio Grande Valley. Zeke graduated from McAllen High School and enlisted in the United States Army. A Sergeant he served as an Airborne Ranger with the 101st Airborne Division the "Screaming Eagles" and fought in Vietnam with Tiger Force. He completed two tours of duty and was awarded the Silver Star and two Bronze Stars for his service. In the 1980s Zeke founded a tree farm and nursery turning a love of the land into a lifes work. He gathered palm and oak seeds wherever he found them on the ground and he became a respected expert in the art of transplanting trees. His knowledge took him as far as Mexico where he lectured on the process.…
