Nathan Lewis Gates, 68, of Buna died Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at his home.Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, April 9, at Adams EE Stringer Funeral  Home in Buna with burial at Antioch Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.A native of Jasper, Texas, he had lived in Buna 35 years and was a retired Electrician with IBEW Local 479.He is survived by his wife, Glenda Gates of Buna; children, Cheyene Gates and wife Nardis of Orangefield; Adam Gates and wife Lacey of Mont Belvieu; and Amy Sturrock and Pete Torres of Thicket; sister, Anita Gates of Jasper; and 7 grandchildren.

Charlie Palmer

Charlie Plamer, 90, of Buna, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas. He was born on June 19, 1935, in Bessmay, Texas, to the late John David and Annie Inez Vaughn Palmer. Born and raised in Buna, Charlie graduated from Buna High School, Class of 1955.Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Army. In 1961, Charlie married the love of his life, a young woman by the name of Martha Ann Wells. They spent the next 64 years building a beautiful life together. Dedicated to his faith in God, Charlie was a member of Buna United Pentecostal Church.Charlie enjoyed the simple things in life, like sitting out on the porch listening to the sounds of nature.
