Martha Owen Dallas Heard was born to Freely Skyles and Virginia Dallas in Natchez MS on May 16 1927. In 1949 she met her true love Bruce Heard they were married Jan. 1 1950 and moved to Alice Texas. Martha was an active member of the United methodist Church a member of Weslyan Service Guild and the United Methodist Women. Martha was a 60 plus year member of the Alice chapter no.61 order of the Easten Star where she served as Matron for many years and on committees of the Grand Chapter of Texas. She served as a member of the Jim Wells County Fair board President of the Alice 4HFFA Booster Club active in the cub scouts the boy scouts and the Alice youth rodeo Association.
