Born on September 10 1927 in San Augustine Texas to Jack and Edna Garrett. He died May 15 peacefully at home. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Upon returning to Orange after the war he met and married his wife of 73 years Winnie Sharp. Together they had 4 children James John Steve and Stacey. He and Winnie were members of Faith Methodist Church for over 75 years. He served on the board of the church many times. He is preceded in death by his parents wife Winnie and daughter Stacey. He is survived by sons James John and Steve Garrett he has 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and 2 greatgreat grandchildren. He was much loved and will be missed by all. Sharon was born and raised in Lake Charles Louisiana. She attended St. Charles Academy Catholic School in Lake Charles grades 112 graduating in 1960 then attended McNeese State College earning a 2 year degree in Secretarial Work in 1962. Sharon then went to work for Haxthausen CPA in Lake Charles until her marriage to David Odegar in 1963. They relocated to Baton Rouge where they started their family and eventually relocated to Orange Texas where they made their family home since 1968. Together they raised 5 children and numerous pets both wild and domestic. In the late 1970s she began teaching CCD Catholic Education for several years at St Marys. In the early 1980s she became interested in Transcendental Meditation and spent a number of years volunteering and working for Renaissance Seminars.
