Monroe Wilson Patterson Jr. age 74 of 309 E. Pennsylvania Street in Covington Virginia died on Thursday May 14 2026 at his residence. Monroe was born in Clifton Forge Virginia on September 9 1951 to the late Monroe Wilson Patterson Sr. and Lillian Larman Patterson. Monroe enlisted in the United States Navy where he served three tours in the Vietnam War aboard an L.S.T. the U.S.S. Vernon County. He worked as a BB mechanic for CSX Transportation. Monroe was an avid fan of the Washington Commanders and NASCAR and he enjoyed hunting fishing and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Joshua Andrew Patterson and four sisters Ona Persinger Dorothy Southers Jean Johnson and Patsy Fleckenstein.
