Clifford "Gerry" HennemanJanuary 4, 1937 - August 15, 2026Gerry Henneman passed away on August 15, 2026 at the age of 89 in Charlottesville, Virginia.Gerry was born on January 4, 1937 in Bronxville, New York, the youngest of three children of Donald Knight Clifford and Margery Meigs Clifford, and the great-granddaughter of William Van Duzer Lawrence and Sarah Lawrence. Gerry attended the Bronxville School and graduated from the Emma Willard School (class of 1955), and Wellesley College (class of 1959).In 1960, she married John B. Henneman Jr. After several years in Cambridge, MA, John's academic career took them to Dundas, Ontario, where John taught at McMaster University. In 1969, John was appointed Professor of History at the University of Iowa and the family moved to Iowa City, where Gerry served as a Den mother for her sons and a Brown Owl for her daughter, became a lifelong Hawkeye fan,…

Davis, Jr., son of the late William W. and Gilberta Knight Davis of Lexington, Kentucky, both of whom were born, raised, and educated in Virginia, died August 18, 2026 in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Knight Davis Gutman of Cincinnati, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Gene Ecton Davis; his daughter Hannah Davis Emig; and his granddaughter Helena Emig. He will be cremated and buried in Monticello Gardens of Charlottesville, Virginia. Arrangements are being handled by Hill & Wood Funeral Service. At his request, there will be no services.Bill was born in Lexington, Kentucky on April 30, 1933. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Virginia in the Class of 1955. Shirley Harner Bishop, 98, widow of Daniel Webster Bishop, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at her residence at Chancellors Village in Fredericksburg, Virginia.She was born on October 2, 1927, in Ceres, Virginia, to the late William Ray Harner and Floy Repass Harner.Shirley graduated as valedictorian of her class from Ceres High School and went on to attend the University of Virginia School of Nursing, where she was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. She devoted many years to caring for others as a registered nurse in the Fredericksburg area and later served as a public health nurse in Spotsylvania County for more than 20 years before retiring.Shirley shared 75 years of marriage with her husband, Daniel, until his passing in 2025. Together, they enjoyed retirement on Totuskey Creek in Warsaw, Virginia, traveling in their motor home and making memories along the way.…
